001 - Arrival... Sort of?
Who: Tieria Erde, Open to All
When: A few days after his arrival.
Where: Library in Athena's cabin. (You can also catch him near the cabin as he leaves for things like food.)
What: Studying, learning, figuring things out, etc.
Warnings: Some spoilers for Gundam 00's timeline, as Tieria comes from near the end of his canon.
Despite the rather "holy" references Celestial Being had in its naming conventions, Tieria didn't believe in gods. VEDA, the quantum super computer, had been the closest thing to a god for him, and even that was now simply a tool to him in the ultimate goal of unifying humanity. So, when he woke up in a strange cabin, surrounded by many, many strangers, and was told that he was a demi-god, a child of a Greek god, he was, at the very least, shocked.
More than shocked. In fact, he didn't want to believe it because it was logically impossible. He was an Innovade, a being created for the purpose of carrying out Aeolia Schoenberg's plan. He had been given control of VEDA after the super computer determined Ribbons was no longer fit to be the lead Innovade. He was in charge. He was important. He was needed back home to finish the plan and keep things moving properly. The plan had been accelerated because of the ELS presence on Jupiter, and things were moving much faster than anticipated. He couldn't be away from all of that. Not yet.
This was not part of the plan.
First he noticed the lack of his quantum brainwaves. That was disturbing. It wasn't just losing contact with VEDA. This was a complete and total loss of his quantum brainwaves altogether. As if they didn't exist at all. He felt like someone had muffled all his senses. It was actually upsetting, and left him a bit off-balance. As a result, he retreated to what he knew - research.
For the last several days, Tieria had gained access to and holed himself up inside the library, reading what he could, learning what he could, and trying to figure out the bigger picture. He had ignored the necklace for now, leaving it off, but never far from him just in case. He didn't want to be bothered by communicating with others, but, if they were from home, he wanted to make sure he heard them. He listened, but only long enough to determine if it was someone worth talking to.
There had to be a way home, and he was going to find it.

Today was different, though. It'd been several days, and she honestly hadn't seen the stranger in the dining hall or asleep once. Maybe they simply kept different schedules, she wasn't sure...but Ami was going to at least attempt to take a page out of Usagi's book and bring him a few things from the dining hall.
"...it's not particularly good, but..." She offered as a disclaimer while she set the tray and goblet beside him. "It'll at least give you a little more energy so you can study more efficiently."
Also, 'hi, nice to meet you.'
no subject
"I... thank you." That would work for now. He almost went right back to reading, but she had brought him something and done him a favor. He at least had the sensibility to realize that was rude. He took a quick glance at the page to mentally mark his place and closed the book completely, no folded pages or fingers left in there to hold the location.
"That was kind of you."
no subject
"...it's nothing...really." Her voice was mousy and, were it not for the fact that the cabin was quieter than most of the others, almost inaudible as she recoiled from the attention, such as it was.
Her eyes noted the fact the the boy closed the book without so much as marking it. "O-oh! You don't--! I didn't mean to interrupt!"
Amiiiii... y so kyoot? :D
"I realize that I have been rather rude since my arrival." While it wasn't something that normally bothered him, he'd been trying to improve on that. After all, he had learned he needed to be open to the idea of interactions and such if he was going to get by on his own. He didn't have the rest of his team to help him out in that regard this time... as depressing a realization as that might be.
This could be considered sort of an unspoken apology. Tieria wasn't good at saying he was sorry, since he rarely ever was.
BECAUSE PRECIOUS BABIES
She's actually pretty amazed with herself that she's carried a conversation this far without some horrible mishap. She'd still tread lightly, not one to tempt the fates. "I just...well, since we're in the same cabin, I couldn't help but notice how furiously you were studying, and..."
She faded off for a moment, clearing her throat and resuming when she realized that people couldn't just finish her sentences like back home. It took familiarity to be on that same wave-length, and that luxury wasn't one she had here. "...not to be presumptuous, but...if you needed any assistance, or if you were looking for something specific, well...two pairs of eyes are better than one, I figured."
SHE IS PRECIOUS
He considered her words, glancing at a small stack of books he had selected for the time being. He hadn't wanted to create clutter by pulling too many from the shelves all at once.
"It would be helpful to learn a bit more about things here," which had been his goal all along, really. "I was hoping to find something about interdimensional transportation, which would have been what brought us here, if I am to understand the situation correctly. And then, from there, attempt to discover a way back."
Because, really, no offense to Ami, but he didn't want to be here. He didn't belong here. His home was back there, and he wanted to return to it.
NO U
Or Setsuna, but...
"You mean..." She weakly smiles, hoping not to insult his intelligence with the question. "...in a theoretical sense?" She stops short, eyes lighting up again and she quickly cradled her chin in the crook of her knuckle. "...though if this is in fact Olympus and we are somehow located above the Empire State Building...there would have to be some sort of dimensional manipulation in play, wouldn't there?"
Oh dear. You've gone and gotten her started, Tieria...
/BLUSH/
"There is certainly something," he said. "I am attempting to ascertain exactly what." He put the book aside for the time being.
"From what I have read so far, these gods and goddesses do indeed live on Earth, however, they do in what seems to be a sort of pocket dimension." Like how normal humans in ancient Greece never actually saw the godly realm on top of the geographical Mt. Olympus.

Without realizing it, Ami took a seat across from him, pulling a few of the books across the table and skimming them over. "Unless you're wanting to go into the details of the gods' interpersonal...relations..." Affairs? "This second book is a bit redundant in regards to the information you're looking for."
She'd gone over them with Philbrezzo a week or so earlier. "You seem to be more interested in what they are capable of, is that correct?"
no subject
He leaned forward on the table to get a better viee of the book she had chosen, but pulled back a bit from the unintentional closeness when she stated it probably wasn't what he needed.
no subject
"There are multiple accounts, as you can imagine, though most of them being inscribed by mortals, fallacy must be taken into account..."
no subject
He reached over to take one of the other books.
"Do any particular ones seem to support each more than others?"
no subject
Because really, Grecian gods...sometimes it was hard to tell which things were original, and which things were tacked-on by the Romans later on when assimilating other cultures' gods into their pantheon.
no subject
"Yes. This is true." In general, Tieria was more familiar with monotheistic religions because of the names Celestial Being used the most. However, he did have a basic familiarity with all religions. However, as far as specific powers, he was lacking. It wasn't important information related to being a Gundam Meister in Celestial Being.
"I am hoping we will have enough spare time that I can continue to look through and find what I need," he said, "however, I do not believe they will allow me to avoid any required camp activities for long."
no subject
"Though participating in such activities might offer other campers' perspective as well...things you won't find in these ancient tomes, here." She lightly taps the hardbound cover of one of the books.
no subject
"You are right." He sighed. "Do you know how long any of the others have been here?" Perhaps, if someone had been at the camp long enough, they'd have a lot more knowledge from outside these books than either of them seemed to have at the moment.
no subject
But yes, it did involve getting a little social, alas.
no subject
"If they will answer us," he said, his tone a bit dark. He didn't have much faith that they would get their answers from the people in charge, but he supposed they could ask all the same. "How do we talk to them?"
no subject
"It does depend on the question, though I don't see why they would object in answering a question we could very likely get on our own accord." That would just be lazy. Or contrary. Neither qualities of which Ami held in high regard.
no subject
"It would be more direct to ask them," he said. As much as he liked being self-sufficient, sometimes efficiency demanded finding an easier way to get the answer. He nodded. That settled it.
"I will attempt to contact the leaders of the camp and see what I can find out." He would likely do that in a few days or so, though, once he was able to find some time between activities to actually catch one and demand answers.

Still, she should really learn how to look where she's going: she slams headfirst into someone walking from the Athena cabin. . .

The book he'd been reading as he walked out hit the ground loudly as he was suddenly crashed into from the side. Shocked, he had to stumble a bit to catch himself and stay upright, putting his arms out for balance.
He was really, really hating not having his quantum brainwaves. He should have known someone was coming close to him. His peripheral senses were down to normal human levels, and it was taking quite a bit of adjustment for him to adapt.
He glared for a moment, rubbing his upper arm where her forehead had impacted him rather hard.
"Watch where you're going!" he snapped, then bent down to snatch up the book. His discomfort over the whole situation, not sensing her, being slammed into, now having a sore arm, was making him grumpy.
no subject
She retreated inward, almost unconsciously -- it was her reaction to bullies in general, or anyone who talked to her like that. . . but this wasn't school, so she didn't look down. Instead, she glared back at him, hands gripping together.
She noticed, briefly, that it was almost terrible instinct to try and summon the dead -- but no, she had to handle this properly.
"I was just thinking about something. You could stop reading and walking, you're equally to blame."
no subject
"There was no one there when I came out of the cabin. You must have been traveling rather quickly."
The statement came out half-accusatory and half-blandly, as if he was annoyed, but simply stating an observation.
Of course, he hadn't seen her in his peripheral vision, either. However, he didn't normally need to actually use his peripheral vision, so he knew he was to blame. He just wasn't ready to admit that because it meant admitting he wasn't functioning at his normal full abilities.
gosh this is late i'm sorry! ;u;/
"Maybe. I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was moving." Because Hades kids...get a wide berth. She doesn't mention that part. "...Ange Ushiromiya. Good to meet you."
Polite introductions, while strange, seemed like the only real way to continue the conversation after such a brusque tone.
It's okay. ^_^
"Tieria Erde." His hands tightened their grip on the book for a moment before he turned to face her completely. His tone was much quieter, and even a little hesitant as he spoke. "I apologize for being sharp with you. I have not been feeling like myself since I arrived." He inclined his head towards her in a slight bow. After all, if anyone else was in a similar position to himself, they were likely feeling similar, if not the same things.

"Athena..?"
no subject
He didn't seem convinced.
"Apparently, virgin goddesses of wisdom can have 'brain children'." The book he was holding happened to actually be about Athena, unsurprisingly. Someone was reading up on his situation. Without computers or anything like that, he was going to have to rely on what was available to him in order to learn.
