He actually grasps it uncomfortably quickly. He doesn't get it. His head doesn't want to get around it. That there's another him--well, not really.
That in some world, somehow, Minako did the same thing he did.
That a year ago, she came to Gekkoukan, she arrived at the SEES dormitory in the middle of the Dark Hour, that she'd summoned a persona (Orpheus?) on the roof top. That she'd managed SEES, just like Akihiko said she had, that she'd fought the arcana shadows, that she'd reached the top of Tartarus. That she'd loved and lost the same team that he thinks about every time he closes his eyes. And Ryoji. Nyx.
There's a kind of pain in his chest. Not just for the idea that the world would have gone on without him, that his team didn't need him, that SEES in some world had never known him, he'd never even existed, but for her, too. Because that meant in another world, she was the Seal. In another world she hung on the door between humanity's desire to die and the means to fulfill it.
And it's a shame. Because she's so bubbly and optimistic and how many people missed her? How many people noticed her absence? Minato was quiet, unassuming, people didn't notice him in rooms full of other people. People didn't know about him, people didn't ask about him, and he had always been okay with that. But Minako didn't seem the type. Friendly and outgoing and helpful. And she's the Seal in some strange world where he isn't. He's not sure that's fair.
And now he's literally face to face with what he wanted to put out of his mind for just a little while. At 3AM. In pajamas outside Hermes' cabin after finding out he was a demigod and it was destiny for him to die all along. And he feels dizzy, bracing his hand against the wall. He really, really doesn't know how to respond.
"... Then there's two of everyone." If they were sent to two different worlds to do the exact same thing, that meant there was two of everyone.
And he wonders what made her Akihiko a demigod, but not his. His Ryoji, but not hers.
