Open! New person! Yay!
Who: Umi Ryuuzaki and anyone wandering on by.
When: Noonish and onward.
Where: The shore of the lake, wandering up and down.
What: New girl is confused and needs to think.
Warnings: ...sarcasm? Water?
A demigod. Really. The daughter of a god, a Greek one no less, instead of her mama and papa - they'd always be that to her, of course, but her birth mother or father was something entirely beyond that.
It scared her, how believable it was. Her name, her powers as a magic knight, hell, her personal color scheme all matched up. She'd given it a passing thought before, but there was probably one trait in there that led to all the others, or else Emeraude had a thing for thematic appropriateness in desperate situations.
Nope.
Frowning to herself, she kicked a stone, blessed with not being bothered by anything the moment she got down there. Umi wasn't a brainiac, she couldn't even keep the Roman vs Greek names of gods straight, but she was named for the sea and commanded water. So did that make Poseidon/Neptune her father? There were more minor gods, and that felt more appropriate to her, but many of those came back to the big man in the sea.
On top of all of that... this was a place to train their children, and they'd gone missing. Heck of a safe place to drag a bunch of people new to the very idea of being demigods. Really, they could've just asked if she wanted to come help and she likely would have done so but what about others? They couldn't all be born warriors, right?
...it was too much to think of, and at some point she just plopped herself down on a log, shaking her head and trying to make it cooperate.

And she drops the books she was carrying. She doesn't know if she's happy about this or sad or angry or--
Maybe it's not even Umi. That's an entire possibility. One she can just assume for a little while? If she doesn't approach, she'll take a while to figure out if the girl who looks just like one of her best friends is on the beach.
Oh god, Umi's here. How does she go about this? Well, first, picking up her books. Then, maybe, wandering down the rest of the way to the beach and hoping her footsteps will alert her, but just in case--
"Umi-san?"
no subject
Then again, camp for demigods, surrounded by who-knows-what. Long blue hair could be a thing here for any number of beings.
Staring out at the water, Umi scowls, thinking harder on the implications of this. So what did that mean for Cefiro? Her friends? Mokona? Was that all less relevant, or more now, somehow? Sure, it was all more important to her, personally, but she'd met God. A god. And threatened to eat it.
Her father probably wouldn't like that.
Huffing, she hears footsteps, but doesn't turn until she hears a voice that stops her heart. Her hair splays out as she turns, clearly shocked. "...Fuu?"
Of course.
no subject
She sounds a little relieved, though she tries not to. She's been kind of lonely in Cabin 11 without anyone else she knows. With Hikaru and Umi, it was easier--they were all they had in Cefiro. But with a couple dozen kids, some having already known each other, it hasn't been like that again.
She's just really happy to see a familiar face. "I didn't know if you were one, too..."
no subject
"I'm here." How long has Fuu been though? Without her? Possibly even with a bunch of weirdos! Or Americans! It's hard not to get riled up at the thought of Fuu being lonely, but even she can't turn off her introspection just that suddenly.
"I... guess both of us..." She shuffles a bit, tapping her foot. "We're demigods." Which means that Fuu's family is... and her own family... and Hikaru and - she shakes her head quickly. "I should have stayed in bed this morning. All mornings. But I'm glad I've got you here with me."
no subject
"... It's so nice to see you again." The smile she offers with that is almost painfully sincere. "I-I mean I've only been here a few weeks, but I was wondering if I'd ever see anyone from home again."
no subject
At least until some kind of sylph or nymph or something gets all up in her personal space. "Weeks? Already?" Umi shakes her head, stepping closer. "I wish I'd gotten here earlier, then."
can't tag at night. i miss important words.
Fuu finally moves to Umi, closing that gap, even if she keeps her books between them. She's not sure she isn't dreaming. "Cabin 11 is crowded, but I don't think it's so terrible to be around the others."
no subject
"I guess it would be crowded if that's where everyone goes at first." So she hadn't been claimed.
Who the heck is her parent anyways? "No one's caused any trouble right?"
no subject
She wishes she knew. She's just stuck in Cabin 11 for now. "Not really anything major. Nic-san tried to leave camp and almost got killed, but I came out of that just fine."
She can't get along with Xanxus, though.
no subject
"People are already almost getting themselves killed?" Wait. Frown. "Though I guess we did that a lot faster in Cefiro."
no subject
She doesn't like it. She's homesick. She's lonely. And worst of all, Fuu's been abandoned by her godly parent. That sucks.
no subject
Shaking her head, she tilts her head back. "A prison where we learn to fight. Better than we ever have before, though I wonder if they'll expect us to be as strong as we are?" Not that they can use their magic from Cefiro here, or else she's pretty sure she could handle herself against the monsters outside of camp.
Imagine if she had Celes.

He hesitantly approaches her, sitting down nearby. He feels a little more confident, since his wings are gone (mostly-if the moonlight hits his back just right they're visible for a moment), so he doesn't show much concern over getting too close to her. Besides, she probably hadn't even seen his message.
"Are you all right, miss?" He's quiet, but friendly, with a small smile. He still can't help but want to make other girls happy.
no subject
Umi glances out of the corner of her eye, then turns her gaze back out to the water. "Not particularly alright. I've been worse though." Only once, but it would be hard to feel worse than that.
"I think being brought to another world and told to fight is easier than finding out that my parents aren't precisely my parents." Except they still are, and always will be. Sorry Poseidon or anyone else.
no subject
He frowns slightly to hear that, siting down next to her.
"I understand. Family is very important. I've never really had any myself, but... as long as you remember your parents, love them and recall how you grew up under their care, then those bonds are more important than whether or not they're your real family.
Of course, I'm just rambling. Sorry if I'm not really helping..."
no subject
"That's what I'm thinking." Though it's sad that he's never had a family. She doesn't even know him, and it strikes her as sad. Her parents were so wonderful, after all, and everyone should be able to have a nice family.
"They're my parents. No god raised me, took care of me, showed me the love and support I needed to be who I am." Yeah take that. "Don't worry about rambling, you really do get it."
no subject
He notices her sad look and shakes his head. "Oh, you don't need to worry about me. I'm alright."
He was just created in a laboratory, is all. That's not a big deal, is it? Thankfully, she seems to be cheering up while talking about her parents.
"I'm just glad to hear about how much you care about them. You must have been very close to them."
no subject
"They were frustrating sometimes, like any parents, but I wouldn't be such a wonderful person without them," Umi said a bit theatrically before laughing at herself. "But I haven't picked up on that modesty thing yet."
no subject
It gives him an excuse to flirt like he does now.
"No, there's no need to be modest. I can tell already that you're beautiful inside and out. The only thing I don't like is that I don't know your name yet!"
no subject
Umi can't help but smile at the obvious flirting. Going to an all girls school, she doesn't get it as much as she's sure she otherwise would (though she's pretty sure one girl on the fencing team is into her), and she brushes her hair a bit dramatically. "Umi Ryuuzaki. I hope my name is as beautiful as the rest of me."
no subject
"Of course it is! Beautiful like the ocean, right? It's a pleasure, Umi-chan. My name's Ryoji Mochizuki. I'm sorry my name isn't as pretty."
no subject
"And just as tempestuous." Umi actually... learned a few long words totally not to describe herself when she decided, as a younger kid, that she'd try to live up to her name more. "Your name suits a man like you, though. You aren't beautiful, or a big hulking manly man," lucky Ryoji, she doesn't like big muscly guys, "but you're very charming."
no subject
Ryoji flushes slightly at Umi's compliment. He knew he wasn't very manly, but it was still a little mortifying to hear that other people noticed it.
"Well, at least you enjoy my charm! And not beautiful? Am I at least a little handsome?"

So he walked along the water, sand crunching under his boots, hands in his pockets. Shinjiro was still wearing his beanie, too. That much wasn't changing anytime soon. He needed space to think, still. About - well, everything. It wasn't until he'd almost reached the log Umi had sat down on that he even noticed she was there. Talk about spacing out.
He blinked at her. A few days ago, he'd scoffed and snapped at people for asking as much, but still: "'Re you okay?"
What a dumb question. But what else did you ask?
no subject
Umi didn't look as she heard boots on sand, but eventually he was close enough that she glanced over at him. Somehow, he seemed surprised.
"I wouldn't say that," she muttered.
